Week 3 Caterpillars and Butterflies

The Little Conkers had a wonderful week learning all about caterpillars and butterflies.

We used books, videos and powerpoint information slides to find out lots of interesting facts which we wrote down using our wonderful phonic skills. We used lots of creative skills to print butterflies with symmetrical patterns, make the lifecycle of a caterpillar, paint parts of the lifecycle  and paint  beautiful butterflies.

We learnt Eric Carle's story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and enjoyed retelling it and making our own books of it. We enjoyed lots of continuous provision activities based on the story too.

Finally we enjoyed welcoming some real life caterpillars which we are watching closely to see how they grown and change.

In phonics we learnt the trigraphs ear and air and the digraph ur. We enjoyed using our reading skills playing sound bingo and whilst reading our books.

In Maths we were working on Doubles .

On Friday in Forest School we enjoyed seeing lots of new flowers and plants and looking at how the new life was beginning to blossom. As ever,  we enjoyed the physical skills Forest School  enables and the opportunity to play outside in a wonderful environment.
