PTA Information

PTA – Parent Teacher Association

(Formerly known as FOBS – Friends Of Buxworth School)

The PTA is an association that aims to raise money to assist the school provides services and facilities that are not normally provided by the Local Education Authority.

Over the years the PTA has raised many thousands of pounds to help buy special things to enrich school life. Their support is vital and very much appreciated. In the past they have organised successful events including children’s discos, Christmas tree lighting, Bingo and a Summer Bonanza.

However, raising money is not the sole purpose of the association. We try to ensure that we provide some entertainment too so that people can simply come along and enjoy themselves in the company of other parents, carers etc. Every parent/carer automatically becomes a member of the PTA when their child starts school – there is no membership fee or commitment.

Of course, we would particularly welcome anyone who is interested in becoming a committee member, willing to help out at events, come up with ideas for fund-raising…

The PTA hold friendly, informal committee meetings (approximately twice a term) at the end of the afternoon or in an evening, to discuss fundraising, social
events and other ways to benefit all the children. For more information and time and place of the next PTA events please see the PTA noticeboard by the main entrance or pop into the school office or even contact us via
