This week we learnt all about the Hindu festival of Diwali, also called The Festival of Light. The children learnt the story it is based on of Rama and Sita and they enjoyed role playing the story and learning about the characters.

They also learnt that the festival is celebrated in many ways; by cleaning the house before it begins, by making and sending cards, by decorating the house with lights, by putting diya lamps all over; by putting rangoli patterns outside, by having a family meal and by singing and dancing. 

On Thursday we had a Diwali day and the children enjoyed experiencing all of those things. They all had a wonderful day and loved Diwali.
