Partial School Closure Due To Industrial Action

Dear Parents,

As you are no doubt aware, we have been advised by the National Educational Union (NEU) due to their ongoing dispute with the Department of Education that their teacher members intend to take industrial action. The union had declared seven days of strike action in February and March, though any individual school will only be affected by four of them. The next is scheduled for Wednesday the 1st of March 2023, followed by the 15th and 16th March in our region.

I can inform you that some schools within the High Peak area who have members of the NEU union will be partially or completely closed. This will affect certain classes at Buxworth School next Wednesday, on the 1st of March:

Classes closed

 Little Conkers (EYFS)

 Horse Chestnuts (Year 1/2)

 Sycamore (Year 3/4)

 Redwood (Year 6 )

Classes open

Hawthorn Class (Year 5) will be open.

The children in Hawthorn Class will come in and go home at normal school times. No clubs will be running on that day.

I apologise for any inconvenience caused and I can only reaffirm that this is not a decision teachers come to lightly. If you need any more information on why the teachers are striking, here is a link Pay up : Strike action | NEU

I will of course keep you up to date on any changes to events should they occur.

Kind Regards,

Paul Bertram
