Well done Little Conkers on a fantastic forst week back.

Everyone came in raring to go and thoroughly enjoyed all of their playing and learning all week.

Our topic of Winter Wonderland got off to a great start with a focus on the  film Frozen. The children read the story and talked about their favourite characters. They made pop up cards and stuck pictures of them on their cards and labelled them with the characters names or words that described them. Later in the week we described Hans and decided he was not nice. We wrote Wanted posters to catch him and put him in jail. The following day the children walked in to a messsage all mixed up which each child had to decipher. The letters spelt 'Find Hans!'  We followed clues which led to different parts of Hans' body which they had to put together to make him whole. After this they made a big jail and secured him safely inside!!! They had great fun and were all very involved and engaged in their tasks.

Alongside this they enjoyed lots of maths including learning the concept of equal to. They consolidated their learning in lots of ways but especially enjoyed counting and playing games outside and snap inside. They did lots of independent writing too including having to write what they had for their lunch instead of  telling me.

They  made some wonderful pieces of art combining different materials to make snowmen and wands and they started the termly challenge card system where they had to complete a different challenge in each area of learning to enable them to tick it off on their card.

Great job this week Little Conkers.
